Paramount TV Studios and Anonymous Content are teaming up to create the hour-long drama series based off the original novels by Laura Ingalls Wilder. The books were adapted into a hit television show once before, which aired on NBC from 1974 to 1982. Now, decades later, Trip Friendly—whose father, Ed Friendly, bought the TV and movie rights to the Little House on the Prairie novels—is expected to serve as an executive producer on the upcoming project.

The book also describes other farm work duties and events, such as the birth of a calf; the availability of milk, butter and cheese; gardening; field work; hunting; gathering; and more. When Pa went into the woods to hunt, he usually came home with a deer and then smoked the meat for the coming winter. One day he noticed a bee tree and returned from hunting early to get the wash tub and milk pail to collect the honey. This reflects the time period in the 1800s during which farmers and many others were migrating westward into the American frontier. The majority of the interior shots were filmed on a sound stage at Paramount Studios but if you're going to film a TV show set in the prairie of the 1800s, you need a solid location for all of the outdoor shots. "I had a whole spiritual journey for maybe 20 years, I’ve worked in finance on Wall Street, lived in Manhattan for a long time," Gilbert, 56, says. Arngrim, 62, has written a best-selling book, "Confessions of a Prairie Bitch" (which is a must-read for "Little House" fans) and has turned the book into a one-woman show. Sidney Greenbush, 53, had not been back to Big Sky Ranch since she left the show. “It feels like when you go to your childhood home and you haven’t lived there for a long time and there’s a certain familiarity that comes back,” she says.

Little House explored many different themes including frequently portrayed ones of adoption, alcoholism, faith, poverty, blindness, and prejudice of all types, including racism. She married writer and executive producer Michael Sloan in 1990 after meeting him on the set of Alfred Hitchcock Presents. In 2002, they moved to Montreal, Canada, and became Canadian citizens in 2007.
